Tarifa is the most southern town of Europe. It lies on the Straits of Gibraltar, between the Mediterranean and Atlantic. The coast of Africa is 14 km away. From the port of Tarifa there are daily ferry's to Tangier in Morocco.  The whale-watching tours take off here as well to observe the mammals in the Straits. Tarifa has a micro climate because of the steady winds. The Andalusian heat in the summer can be felt rarely. The many restaurants and tapas bars are open until late. The nightlife of Tarifa is famous. The latest nightclub closes in summer not before 6:00 a.m.
